Public Transportation

Take the MTS Bus 7 or Rapid 215 to the Fleet! We recommend that you plan your trip so you arrive at the stop nearest the Park about 15 to 20 minutes before your film or event starts to allow plenty of time to walk to the Fleet.   Metropolitan Transit System bus Route 7 and Rapid 215 serve stops along Park Boulevard within a short walk of the Fleet.

MTS Routes 3 and 120 provide service along 4th and 5th Avenues on the Park’s west side. If taking one of those routes, get off at the stop closest to Laurel Street and walk east on Laurel Street, past 6th Avenue, over the historic Cabrillo Bridge. Pass the Plaza de Panama and continue to the large fountain; the Fleet will be on your right.

MTS routes to Balboa Park connect with MTS Trolley Lines and many other MTS Bus and Rapid Routes. In downtown San Diego, Rapid 215 is an easy connection from Amtrak and COASTER trains at the Santa Fe Depot and the Cruise Ship Terminal.

For the latest information about routes and schedules (you can download any bus or Trolley Map and schedule) or a trip plan, visit www.sdmts.com. By phone, dial 511 or call Transit Information at (619) 233-3004.

Assistive Listening Devices

Special headsets are available for the hearing-impaired to enhance the Dome Theater experience. The headsets increase the intelligibility of theater presentations by enhancing the narration and dialogue and lowering music and sound effects. The headsets are available for use in the theater with any IMAX film or digital show (except for music-only presentations). Just ask for a complimentary headset at the Ticket Counter in the Entry Rotunda.

Captioned Screenings

The Fleet is pleased to offer the Rear Window closed-captioning system in the Heikoff Dome Theater. A limited number of devices are available for all public IMAX® films and digital shows. Our enhanced system offers improved viewing of captions. When you purchase your Dome Theater ticket at the Ticket Counter, tell the guest services associate that you would like to use the closed-caption service. The service is complimentary, and the system is accessible in the upper-right seating area of the theater.

Wheelchairs

Inside the Heikoff Dome Theater, there are designated wheelchair areas. Several restrooms in the Fleet are fully accessible to wheelchairs. For complete privacy and assisted restroom use, please use the restrooms nearest the Main Exhibit Gallery entrance. For further information or for assistance with elevator access to the second floor, please contact a Fleet staff member.

Please note that there is a limited quantity of complimentary wheelchairs provided by the Fleet Science Center, subject to availability.
