The Reuben H. Fleet Science Center is ready to ROCK with our second annual live concert series!   The 2015 edition of our popular monthly live concert series features five established local musical acts to entertain and engage. Musical genres include rock, country, blues, folk and soul to ensure that the concert series has something for everybody.   The lineup: Friday, January 16: Tim Flannery and the Lunatic Fringe Friday, February 20: Venice Friday, March 27: Earl Thomas Friday, April 17: Berkley Hart Selis Twang Friday, May 22: Steve Poltz Plus special guest Michael Tiernan opens each show.   Each show features two performances: an awesome opening act and a rockin' headliner. There will also be beer, wine and cocktails available at the no-host bar, food available for purchase and the Fleet's 100+ hands-on exhibits open for exploration!   Doors open at 7 p.m. The first performance is at 7:30 p.m. Parking is free in the lot at Space Theater Way off Park Blvd. All performances are in the Reuben H. He is a prolific and talented songwriter, currently preparing to release his eleventh album in 15 years. He is a seasoned fingerstyle legend of Americana music with a gift for crafting potent, resonant songs and delivering energetic, emotional live shows.   Friday, February 20: Venice   Venice’s trademarks are their harmonies, personal lyrics and high energy, communal shows. Their distinctive vocal sound and harmonies have allowed Venice and its members to perform and/or record with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Bruce Springsteen, Michael Jackson, David Crosby, Stevie Nicks, Bon Jovi, Jackson Browne, Brian Wilson, Cher, Don Henley, Elton John, Michael McDonald, Phil Collins, Ozzy Osborne, Billy Idol, America, Heart—and the list goes on.   Friday, March 27: Earl Thomas   Earl Thomas had never picked up a microphone in his life until he was nearly killed after losing his footing at the edge of a 50-foot ravine. He slid all the way down, landing unconscious on a pile of broken glass and debris. Luckily, the 22-year-old dental student was only bruised, but not knowing the extent of the damage upon regaining consciousness, he reflected on his disappointment at not having pursued his dream of becoming a singer, and resolved to do just that if he survived. Nine years later, he recorded 1991's Blue ... Not Blues, a record strongly influenced by his parents' love of blues and gospel music and his own affinity for '60s and '70s soul.   Friday, April 17: Berkley Hart Selis Twang   Berkley Hart Selis Twang provides a shot of California country rock and a dash of folk, poured over 70s harmony with a newfound edge. Berkley Hart Selis Twang combines the country-rock of Eve Selis and Marc “Twang” Intravaia (of the Eve Selis Band) with the country-folk of Jeff Berkley and Calman Hart (of Berkley Hart) to create a fresh sound, rich with vocal harmony and powerful lyrics. If you like Crosby Stills Nash & Young, the Eagles and Linda Ronstadt, you’ll love Berkley Hart Selis Twang!   Friday, May 22: Steve Poltz   Former frontman of the semi-legendary Rugburns, Steve Poltz positively owns a crowd when he's on stage. His shows are the stuff of legend—no two are alike—and can take an unsuspecting audience from laughter to tears and back again in the space of a single song. He is a master of improvisational songwriting and works without a set list to be free to react instantly to the mood of a room. It's also worth mentioning that he is an astonishing guitar player on top of everything else. He is quite possibly the most talented, and engaging, solo performer on this planet. That's what 250+ shows a year on three continents will do for you.   Special Guest: Michael Tiernan   Michael Tiernan opens each show. He hung with monks deep in desert monasteries and lived in the Vatican, but he left the seminary for the higher calling of music, and has since racked up several national and international awards for his songwriting. His acoustic blend has a relaxed vibe mixed with a big city sound. Deep in meaning, yet playful in attitude, Michael’s music takes you from the temple to the tavern and from the beach to downtown.   Parking and Times   All performances will be held at the Reuben H.
