The Fleet Science Center presents Renegade Science Project, a new outdoor experience in Balboa Park
San Diego, CA—Get ready for a tour of Balboa Park unlike anything you've ever experienced. The Fleet Science Center presents the Renegade Science Project, a brand new tour that highlights the unique science of Balboa Park. This new outdoor experience will be available starting August 8, 2018.
The Renegade Science Project is a dynamic and engaging event for adults who are curious and love to explore. Developed by the Fleet Science Center in conjunction with Museum Hack, this project takes participants on a fast-paced, 90-minute, interactive exploration of the park.
The Renegade Science Project isn’t a dry docent lecture. It’s an opportunity for visitors to experience science in a fun and unconventional way in one of the most incredible settings in San Diego. This experience was designed to create awareness that science doesn’t just live in a lab. It surrounds everyone, everywhere—even in Balboa Park.
The Renegade Science Project begins at the Fleet Science Center and covers 1.5 miles through the park. Along the tour, there are plenty of opportunities to participate in experiments, compete in challenges and win prizes.
The tour includes stops at a rotating selection of up to six locations, which include gardens, fountains and hidden spots. Participants will explore a variety of science, such as chemistry, engineering, biology, psychology and botany.
“The Renegade Science Project is a starting point for discovery and curiosity,” said Steve Snyder, President and CEO of the Fleet Science Center. “We believe science is everywhere, and we hope this new outdoor experience will bring out the inner scientist in everyone.”
The Renegade Science Project includes admission to the Fleet Science Center's regular exhibits and an IMAX® film. The tours are offered seven days a week and are recommended for ages 16+.
