Celebrate the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center’s 40th Anniversary Year!

San Diego, CA—April 15, 2013—Take the cameras out of their bags and soar along Balboa Park and the Reuben H. San Diego residents are encouraged to submit their best photos of butterflies within Balboa Park and the greater San Diego region. This contest flies its course now through Sunday, May 5; with public voting for the best shot on Monday and Tuesday, May 7 and 8. Flight of the Butterflies is the awe-inspiring story of two unlikely heroes that share a common strength, following the epic journey of the monarch and the equally epic quest of determined scientist Dr. Fred Urquhart, who spent 40 years trying to discover the mysteries surrounding their journey and secret winter hideaway. The iconic monarch butterfly is a true marvel of nature. Weighing less than a penny, it makes one of the longest migrations on Earth across a continent, with pinpoint navigational accuracy, to a place it has never been.
