Amidst a laboratory backdrop, a woman scientist stands confidently, dressed in a crisp white lab coat. The lab coat features her name, Amy L. Non, Ph.D., elegantly embroidered on the left side, while the seal of the University of California adorns the right sleeve.

Dr. Amy Non is a molecular anthropologist with an interest in the genetic and sociocultural contributors to racial and social inequalities in health. Her lab investigates how social experiences can become biologically embedded through epigenetics - environmental exposures changing the expression of the DNA's genetic code, affecting health throughout the life course.  Additionally, her lab investigates racial biases in medical diagnostics that may contribute to racial inequalities in chronic diseases including hypertension, liver disease, and lung function.
