What sounds like the beginning of a bad joke is a fun community-wide event! During Two Scientists Walk Into a Bar®, local scientists will enjoy something we all do: a good conversation at a local bar.

Science is in your everyday life, so make it a part of your social life. Two Scientists Walk Into a Bar takes place at different bars across San Diego County, making it easier to quench your thirst for knowledge and drinks all in one go. After work, you can simply walk into a bar and meet local scientists and researchers from all types of fields. Ask them any questions you may have about intriguing topics or anything else that comes to mind.

Cheers to a decade of Thinking & Drinking!

Ten years ago, the Fleet Science Center launched a daring experiment: Could we mix the thrill of science with the vibrant energy of local bars, wineries, and breweries? And so, Two Scientists Walk Into a Bar was born, bringing together your local science community, great drinks, and even better conversation. Fast-forward a decade, and we‘re still going strong. 

To mark this milestone, our friends at Barley & Sword have partnered with some of our Two Scientists to collaborate on a unique beer: The Thirst for Knowledge Festbier. This one-of-a-kind brew has a welcoming, medium-malt profile, opening with light, toasty notes, moving through a mild bitterness into a dry and refreshing finish. It truly is a testament to the shared love for science and beer that brought us all together.

But the fun doesn‘t stop there. Join us for a special edition of Two Scientists: Two Scientists (and a Brewer) Walk Into a Bar! This time, we‘re spotlighting our local, brilliant scientists and the creative brewers and breweries that have hosted the program. Plus, you‘ll be one of the first to try Thirst for Knowledge Festbier.

The fun begins on Monday, September 9, and will conclude with a special anniversary and beer release party on Friday, September 13, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Barley & Sword Brewery.

So, let‘s raise a glass to 10 brilliant years, over 200 incredible scientists, thousands of intriguing questions, and countless unforgettable conversations. We invite you to join us during this weeklong celebration, culminating in a can‘t-miss beer release party.
