Latest Health and Safety Update at the Fleet Science Center
Thank you for your continued support.
Since we first began navigating COVID-19, the coronavirus, our goal has been to lead with care, transparency and decision-making based on facts and science. Our commitment is to always do what’s best for our guests, our volunteers, our staff and the communities we serve.
After reviewing all available data and discussing with our community partners to ensure we are supporting the efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 including the mandate issued by the San Diego County of Health and Human Services, effective Monday, March 16, the Fleet Science Center will be temporarily closed. Scientists are integral in the fight to control the spread of COVID-19 and other threats to health. The Fleet Science Center has an important role to play in nurturing the next generation of scientists; therefore, our staff will continue this work behind the scenes during the closure.
As a county-wide organization dedicated to connecting people to the power and possibilities of science, we have not made this decision lightly. We have been vigilant in taking precautions as the situation evolved and are committed to supporting public health officials in reducing the spread of novel COVID-19. We have had no known cases of exposure among our staff and visitors to COVID-19 and we will continue to have the highest standards for disinfection.
We are grateful for the support and patience of our community—members, educators, students, scientists, employees, volunteers and Balboa Park institutions—and we look forward to welcoming you back to the Fleet Science Center in the near future.
