FAQs

How far in advance do I submit my request?

Please submit your form at least 2-3 weeks prior to the dates you wish to reserve. For the best selection of dates and programs, we ask that you submit your form early in the school year. All reservation requests will be reviewed and processed in the order in which they are received.

Before submitting any Request Form, please:

  • Be certain that your field trip has been approved by your institution
  • Secure transportation to and from the Fleet Science Center
When will my reservation be confirmed?

Your reservation will be confirmed via email from one of our Education Coordinators. Office hours are Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., excluding holidays. Allow for 3-5 business days before contacting them to follow up. They will provide you with an order confirmation number—only then is your program booked and on our calendar.

How much does it cost?

Prices vary based on the type of field trip. Below you will find our most popular options.

For an exhibits field trip (including free IMAX®), the cost is $10 per student and $12 per adult beyond our chaperone ratio below.

  • Grades 2+, we require 1 chaperone free of charge per 10 students.
  • Grades 1 and younger, we require 1 chaperone free of charge per 5 students.
  • Teachers are included in the chaperone count
  • All one-on-one aides are free of charge and excluded in the chaperone count

Our 60-minute workshops, both At the Fleet and At Your School, are $260 each  and include cost for 25 students and 6 adults per workshop, one of whom must be a teacher. This also includes gallery entrance for on-site workshops.

Our 90-minute workshops, both at the Fleet and at your School, are $335 and include cost for 25 students and 6 adults, one of whom must be a teacher. This also includes gallery entrance for on-site workshops.

If you’d like an IMAX viewing in addition to your workshop at the Fleet, cost will be an additional $3 per person, regardless of age.

Do you offer funding for Title 1 schools?

Yes, we offer financial aid to Title 1 schools through our Access Science Program, funded through the generosity of our grant donors.

Scholarship funding is solely available for field trip opportunities to our galleries and IMAX. Ineligible programs include workshops, virtual classes, assemblies, and Science-to-Go programming.

Our scholarships operate on a first-come-first-served basis from September-June. We encourage fall applications for field trips, regardless of the anticipated program date, due to the limited nature of funding.
