The Fleet Science Center to host a panel event to answer questions regarding the COVID-19 vaccines

The event will be hosted virtually on Wednesday, March 24, from 6–7:30 p.m.

San Diego, CA—In support of the interests and questions of the community, the Fleet Science Center is hosting COVID-19 Vaccines: Your Questions Answered. The free virtual event starts with a panel presentation at 6 p.m. and ends with a live Q&A session from 6:30–7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24. Panelists include scientists involved in the vaccine approval process, researchers who worked on the development of the vaccines and from the public health sector.
The panel is moderated by Jonathan Wosen, Ph.D., San Diego Tribune Biotech Reporter, with an introduction by Steve Snyder, Ph.D., President and CEO, Fleet Science Center.
The panelists are:
  • Jeannette L. Aldous, MD, Clinical Director of Infectious Disease San Ysidro Health
  • Kate Broderick, Ph.D., Senior Vice President Research & Development Inovio Pharmaceuticals
  • Jamal K. Gwathney, MD, MPH, CCHP, FAAFP, CAPT, U.S. Public Health Service Clinical Director MCC San Diego
  • Mark Sawyer, MD, Professor, Clinical Pediatrics & Pediatric Infectious Disease Specialist UCSD School of Medicine & Rady Children’s Hospital, San Diego.

Why: The event was created to address the people’s questions about the vaccine and to showcase the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) involved in the process.
