Making square bubbles.

It's not impossible to make square bubbles.
Water suspension

Water suspension: A mesh screen holds water in the jar, even when toothpicks are pushed through it.
Laser Microscope

Laser microscope: See the “invisible” with a homemade laser microscope. Using a green pen laser and a droplet of pond water, we can project the contents of the droplet.

Join the Fleet's Curator of Impossible Science, Jason Latimer, as he hosts the fifth annual Impossible Science Festival at the Fleet Science Center!

  • Learn how to make objects invisible.
  • Experience virtual reality and what it's like to walk on a construction girder!
  • Explore levitation.
  • All of the festival fun is included in Fleet admission (along with all of the Fleet's regular interactive exhibits, plus the IMAX  film of your choice).
  • Watch the video below to see what the Impossible Science Festival is all about!

The Impossible Science Festival is a unique, hands-on, interactive event that explores the science behind the seemingly impossible. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn how to turn objects invisible, explore levitation, play with the science of mind control, discover impossible figures and even experience virtual reality. This event will examine the question "what is possible?" and use visual and interactive experiences to show how the seemingly impossible can become possible.

"The goal of the Impossible Science Festival is to promote education through curiosity," said Jason Latimer, host and designer of the Impossible Science Festival. "By exploring subjects that seem impossible but showing how they can be made possible through science, visitors will have a memorable, hands-on learning experience that will blow their minds!"

The magic is back at the Fleet! Jason Latimer, Curator of Impossible Science for the Fleet, World Champion of Magic, host of SciJinks on Science Channel and judge on Syfy Channel’s magic competition, Wizard Wars, returns to the Fleet Science Center Saturday and Sunday as part of the Impossible Science Festival. Experience Jason’s jaw-dropping illusions with physics, psychology, chemistry, mathematics and technology throughout the day as part of the festival.

The festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the theater lobby of the Fleet Science Center, where there will be more than 20 interactive demonstration stations for visitors to experience.
